For just over a decade, the 成人头条versity has developed expertise in logistics and supply chain management, training Master students and PhD鈥檚, conducting research with partners and creating synergies with institutions and businesses. To broaden the scope of its activities and develop new initiatives, the activities in logistics and supply chain management are being transferred to the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM), within the Department of Engineering (DoE).
Logistics聽is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of multiple disciplines across economics, management,聽science,聽and engineering. Strengthening education and research to meet future needs
On the educational front, the transition enables the strengthening of the engineering educational programmes, with the expansion of the current logistics and supply chain management programme within a two-year Master programme. This new programme will answer the growing needs of the national and European stakeholders. During the transition to the new offer, the current programme in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is not offered for the academic year 2026-2027.
Over the past ten years, as part of the Department of Economics and Management at the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, the former Luxembourg Center for Logistics (LCL) has played a central role in training professionals and researchers. From Master鈥檚 graduates to doctoral students, the centre has prepared talent that is now contributing to Luxembourg鈥檚 economy and beyond. Its research attracted interest from the industry for joint research and partnerships. Through conferences, webinars, workshops, and research publications, LCL has also shaped the conversation in this rapidly evolving field. Integrating these activities into the DoE is a strategic investment in the 成人头条versity鈥檚 future, consolidating its mission to achieve excellence in research, education, and societal impact, and reaffirming its leadership in logistics, supply chain management, and industrial innovation.
Building on the legacy of the LCL and industrial partnerships
Thanks to the continued support of its partners during the past 10 years, LCL has built a strong reputation within Luxembourg鈥檚 logistics ecosystem, and the ambition is to strengthen the existing and create new industrial collaborations. Hosting these efforts within the Department of Engineering will enable new synergies and draw on consolidated experience in establishing long term partnerships, among others demonstrated by the department鈥檚 three prestigious industrial chairs: ArcelorMittal Chair of Steel Construction, Paul Wurth Chair of Energy Process Engineering and CERATIZIT Chair in Hard and Advanced Materials.
These chairs bring deep technical expertise, strong links with industry, structural funding, support in technical and infrastructure assets, and a culture of applied research. By working alongside industrial partners, students and researchers benefit from enriched learning opportunities, access to real-world projects, and new avenues for collaboration.
Within the Department of Engineering, researchers will continue to tackle the challenges of modern logistics while preparing the next generation of professionals and thought leaders for rewarding careers in Luxembourg.
