Felix is a Research scientist in Law at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ. He is a member of the ADA Chair in Financial Law (Inclusive Finance) and the project coordinator of the CATALux NCER FutureFinTech FNR project.

As a scholar specialising in European ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõon Law, comparative private law, and law and technology, his interdisciplinary research integrates legal, empirical, and regulatory perspectives. He has authored two books published by Oxford ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity Press: ‘Compliance with European Consumer Law’ and a co-edited volume (with Professor Herwig Hofmann) titled ‘Governance of Automated Decision-Making and EU Law’. Additionally, he co-edited a Special Issue of the European Journal of Risk Regulation focused on automated decision-making in EU Law. His publications cover various topics, including AI regulation, e-commerce law, platform governance, digital finance, and consumer protection.

At the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ, Felix serves as the course director for the Bachelor-level course Introduction to Commercial Law. He also teaches the following courses: Digital Finance, Regulation, and Implications (Master’s and PhD levels); Introduction to Empirical and Comparative Legal Methods (PhD level); and he co-teaches Empirical Legal Studies (PhD level).

He has presented his research to various public bodies, including the European Commission’s E-Enforcement Academy, the ERA in Trier, and the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

His research appeared in the New York Times, the Financial Times, RTL, Virgule, the UK Parliament, and the Council of Europe.

Before he joined the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ, Felix was a Lecturer in Law at different Colleges and the Faculty of Law of the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity of Oxford. He taught Contract Law, Tort, and EU Law to students at Oxford for more than six years; he continues teaching at Oxford part-time. Felix was also a Guest Lecturer in Law and Technology (M2) at ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversité Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in early 2021 and early 2022, Research Assistant to Professors Geneviève Hellering and Horst Eidenmüller, an Associate Editor at the Oxford Business Law Blog, and a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law.

Felix completed his undergraduate studies in law at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversities of Maastricht and Glasgow. He then earned a Master’s degree and a PhD in Law from Brasenose College and the Faculty of Law at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity of Oxford. His Master’s and PhD theses, supervised by Professors Stephen Weatherill and Dorota Leczykiewicz, focused on European Private Law. After obtaining his PhD, Felix undertook a three-year Postdoctoral Research Fellowship with Professors Herwig Hofmann and Dirk Zetzsche in Luxembourg.
