An invitation to reflect on the horizontal effect of fundamental rights in a time of climate change and spreading populism

Abstract

This workshop will revisit the question of the horizontal effect of constitutional rights in the time of climate change, pervasive political populism and digital social media platforms. It will pivot on the discussion of papers presented by Joel Bakan (³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity of British Columbia), Richard Mailey (³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity of Alberta), Gautam Bhatia (Jindal Global Law School, New Delhi and Oliver Gerstenberg (³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity College London UCL). Assigned discussants of the papers will be Frank Michelman (Harvard ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity), Mark Tushnet (Harvard ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity) Stephen Gardbaum (Berkely ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity) and Adreas Kulick (³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõversity of Mainz).
