Sébastien Malaprade and Stéphane Michonneau were among the collective of researchers at the who, together with the association , in 2024 started the . The festival was launched with the aspiration to value the history of those forgotten or neglected by official narratives and to experiment with original forms of history creation and transmission. Each new edition brings together scholars, students, artists, and citizens to reflect upon a changing theme through shows, lectures, games, and other formats aimed at disseminating historical knowledge beyond academic circles. The Festival d’Histoire Populaire and the Histofest thus have a lot in common.

Following Dora Komnenovic’s and Aliénor Gandanger’s visit to Paris-Créteil in May 2025 for the second edition of the FHP, Sébastien Malaprade and Stéphane Michonneau returned the visit in October with a group of students of the . Besides attending the pilot edition of the Histofest, the group visited the Belval campus, Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg-City, and was able to exchange experiences with students of the Master in Digital and Public History at the ³ÉÈËÍ·Ìõ.
